classes we've developed.
Dance Technique: with Brian Curson
My philosophy is simple. Every body can dance. Dance technique
isn't foremost about 'getting it right'. When I teach Dance I
use short phrases of movement that are slowly built upon as your
body gradually become accustomed to them. It becomes a process
of letting your body do it, of letting go. My dances are inspired
by fundamental movement principles taken from dance, T'ai Chi
and yoga and are designed with room for you to express yourself
within them I work with breath to encourage release and flow of
energy. Simply put: through enjoyment we create, we express, we
dance.
Why not try DancePilates! Dance Pilates is a dynamic fun class,
which transforms Pilates exercises done at the beginning of the
class into a slightly funky dance routine done to popular music.
Robyn & Brian use the Pilates exercises to encourage the use
of core strength while also warming and limbering the body. Dance
encourages a sense of grace and fun. Dance Pilates combines the
two to send you flowing fluidly agilely around the space and into
and out of the floor. As Strictly Come Dancing has so adequately
demonstrated you do not need to have danced before in order to
experience the fun of dancing! You do not need to have done Pilates
either! All you need is enthusiasm and a degree of fitness, which
will allow you to explore your full range of movement. Come have
fun and explore this all-new class with Robyn or Brian.
This class is a combined Pilates, Lee
Style Yoga and T'ai Chi class. The class starts with Pilates
Mat exercises and progresses into K'ai
Mein, Chinese Yoga. After warming up we carefully introduce
some of the movements of the T'ai
Chi forms, repeating and developing them until we become accustomed
to them. These movements are slowly combined and built upon week
by week to create the beautiful forms of the Lee Style. The class
is sometimes streamed into groups allowing beginners to concentrate
on simpler sequences. This class is ideal for the beginner or
those wanting to gently apply themselves.
This class, done to relaxing music, will start with a simple
standing warm-up, to gently stretch and relax the body. The warm-up
will flow into the graceful movements of T’ai Chi taught
as simple relaxing repetitive sequences done to the breath. Ideal
for people who find learning the intricate long forms of T’ai
Chi difficult and for those who simply wish to relax through movement.
No previous movement experience is necessary.
